Copy and paste buttons on the content editor in Updater do not work in Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer (version 7+) has a feature called "Compatibility View". By default, this is turned off. Turning it on will solve a lot of issues, including the copy and paste functions in the content editor in Updater. Turning on Compatibility View Mode in Internet Explorer will solve this issue.

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to the "Tools" menu and choose "Compatibility View".
  2. This will automatically turn it on.
Note: If there is a check by it in the menu, it is already on, however, you may turn it off then back on.
  3. The screen will refresh and then you will be able to use the copy and paste buttons on the content editor.
Note: When you first use the copy or paste buttons, you may have a window pop up with the message, "Do you want to allow this webpage access to your Clipboard?" Click the "Allow Access" button to continue.

Copy and paste buttons on the content editor in Updater do not work in Firefox.

Firefox (version 4+) now has a security feature in place where all Copy/Paste functions in WYSIWYG are disabled. This affects the content editor in Updater. This issue can be fixed by installing AllowClipboard Helper 1.0.1 Plug-In for Firefox.

  1. Go to:
  2. Click on the green "+ Add to Firefox" button.
  3. Click "Allow" in the pop-up window near your address bar.
  4. A Software Installation box will appear. Click "Install Now" button.
  5. When done, you will be prompted to restart Firefox.
  6. Once Firefox is restarted, the plug-in is installed and you pull up the content editor in Updater, you will see a yellow tab "Text Cut, Copy & Paste not allowed" at the bottom of it.
There will be a yellow tab. Click to allow permissions for copy and pasting.
  7. Click on the tab and a box will appear.
  8. Click the "Allow" button. The web address will populate into the box below.
Click Allow button to choose the website.
  9. Click "OK". Firefox will restart and open back up to the content editor.
  10. The tab is gone and copy and paste buttons on content editor now work.
Note: Ctrl+C (copy) and Ctrl+V (Paste) functions will work as well.

If you see..."Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

If you receive this error message while browsing in Internet Explorer, "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage", and you have another computer available to you, try viewing the page IE says it cannot display on the other machine.

If you can see the page on the other machine, the problem may be with a browser or virus protection setting on your computer.

If you cannot see the page on either machine, check to see if you can view a different web page by entering one of these two websites in the address bar: or

If you can pull up either of these websites, but still cannot view the page that gave you the original "cannot display..." message, you should refer to the information available at Microsoft Support for several helpful methods to troubleshoot the problem.
