How do I create a new page?

Updater 4.2 Support

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a new page in Updater. This new page will not have content yet. The page is only the shell where you will place content later.

  1. To change order of navigation, go to the AcuWeb menu and choose "Site Map". A pop-up window will appear.

    Sitemap
  2. Locate a parent page on your site map you want your new page to appear under.
  3. Click on the "Copy as New" icon Copy as New next to a page with the layout you need. (Ex: 1 column vs. 2 columns)
  4. A pop-up box will appear asking to provide a filename for this page. Please type in a simple and short name for your page.

You can change the Page Name once the page is created. However, the filename (i.e., what you see in the browser URL for the page) is not editable once created, so please try to keep it short and descriptive.
Mixed case (ex: NewPageName), uppercase (ex: NEWPAGENAME), and lowercase letters (ex: newpagename) are accepted. We recommend mixed and lowercase.
Numbers and underscores (_) are accepted.
    Do not use special characters (For Example: . , ; : ( ) # & * ! @ ^ " ? / < >)
    Do not use spaces.

  5. Click OK to create the new page. It will automatically update in the site map under the parent page you copied the new page from.
  6. The next step is to edit the new page created. Click on the "Edit Page" Edit Page icon next to the page you just created. You will be brought to an Edit Page screen.
  7. Under the Basic Page Setup section, type in page name and page title.

  8. For the Navigation section, you may change the order of the page in navigation, link it from another page, or show/hide the page from navigation.

    Change navigation options.
  9. Scroll down to the Page Header/Meta Information and provide at minimum a description of the page. Keep it brief (1-2 sentences). Keywords are optional since most popular search engines do not utilize them anymore.
  10. When done, press "Save Changes" button at top of the page.
